Passing of Retiree Edward Phoenix

I regretfully inform the college community of the passing of retiree Edward Phoenix on September 1 at the age of 90.

Phoenix joined Monroe Community College in 1975 as Assistant Dean of Students. Throughout his career, he became affectionately known as "Easy Ed," "Sir Phoenix," and the "Lean Dean." In 1993-94, he received the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the College. He served on and led numerous committees during his tenure, including playing a key role in commencement ceremonies. After 23 years of dedicated service to MCC, he retired in June 1997 as Assistant Vice President for Student Services.
